All prospective students at East Catholic High School take both entrance exams and placement tests as part of the admission process. Please contact our admissions office at 860-649-5336, ext. 6238 if you have questions about these tests.

Take Our Entrance Exam

All incoming freshmen and transfer students must take our entrance exam. Prospective students who take one of our fall entrance exams are automatically considered for merit-based tuition assistance. Check out our exam dates below and register online.

  • Saturday, March 28 at 8:30 a.m.

Please note that the entrance exam being offered at East Catholic is not the HSPT. It is created by our faculty to best understand the placement needs of our students. Students who take the HSPT at other schools are still eligible for enrollment; however, to be considered for a merit scholarship, students must take the East Catholic entrance exam. Students who do not take the East Catholic entrance exam will need to take it pending acceptance before they can schedule classes.

Placement Tests

To ensure a more equitable process and comprehensive review of current levels of proficiency and understanding, students in our feeder schools will take the placement exam at East Catholic High School. Be advised that students may not use calculators during the exam. Review packets for all exams are available in the sidebar of this page.

For the spring of 2026, placement exams are on Tuesday, May 26; Wednesday, May 27; and Wednesday, June 3.
