Themes of Catholic Social Teaching
The Church's social teaching is a compilation of wisdom aimed at building a more just society and living lives of holiness amid the challenges of modern society. Modern Catholic social teaching has been articulated through tradition and a compilation of Church documents. The depth and richness of this tradition requires thoughtful study and is a critical core component of the East Catholic curriculum. The seven core areas of Catholic Social Teaching are:
- Life and Dignity of the Human Person
- Call to Family, Community, and Participation
- Protection of Human Rights and Responsibilities
- Preferential Option for the Poor and Vulnerable
- Dignity of Work and Rights of Workers
- Solidarity & Subsidiarity
- Care for God's Creation
