EAST CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION 2010-2011

At this time, we are looking at the transportation options for the 2010-2011 school year. While many students do drive or are driven to school, there are other choices that may be available.  Your community of residence will determine availability. The options available are described below. In order to properly plan for busing, we will need a commitment from families in making their choices. Therefore, we ask that every family who would choose a bus option complete the appropriate form.  Forms for request of transportation may be found below. These should be downloaded, completed and returned to school by May 1, 2010 in order to be entered into the system.  For those who do not have access to the Internet, forms are available in the Main Office and Student Life.

  1. Manchester Residents - Bus transportation is available through your local Board of Education at no cost to students.  Route information will be available on the town Website: www.ci.manchester.ct.us.   Bus routes are scheduled to be published in mid-August in the Journal Inquirer.  It is a great help to our students and parents that our host community provides this service.  Should you need to contact the Manchester School District Bus Coordinator, the phone number is 647-3476. Whether or not you avail yourself of the buses provided by the town, please complete the Manchester Bus Form.

  2. Howell Cheney State Technical School Buses-towns: Most towns in our geographic area provide transportation to Howell Cheney State Technical School. As a courtesy, some towns will transport students
attending ECHS at no cost to students.  Requests for service should be made through your local Board of Education or Superintendent of Schools.  Cheney is a short walk from ECHS.  If you plan to request this service from your town of residence, please complete the Cheney Bus Form.

  3. Carpooling—Parents may wish to car pool.  Though East Catholic does not become directly involved in carpooling, we are pleased to serve as a link to bring interested parties together.  If you wish to know of others who may be interested please complete the Carpool Form.

  4. Hartford Bus Pass Survey- Please complete if you are interested in city bus passes from Hartford.

It is hoped that this information will assist you in making transportation arrangements for the next school year.  Should you have any questions please contact the Office of Student Life: (860) 649-5336 ext. 233.
