School teams are a vital part of the physical education and fitness program of East Catholic High School. They are intended to further impress upon the student the need for healthy and meaningful body exercise. Consistent with all East Catholic programs, sports play a significant role in the development of the whole person.
East Catholic has always understood that athletic excellence does not have to come at the expense of academic achievement. Each year nearly 80% of the student body participate in at least one of the 23 varsity, 15 JV, or 6 freshman athletic teams. It is an honor and a privilege to wear the EC Blue and White.
East Catholic's dedicated and loyal coaching staff push each student-athlete to his or her potential, nothing less and nothing more. Sportsmanship, teamwork, respect for others, and hard work are emphasized over wins and losses. The fact that East has recently won sportsmanship awards from regional officiating boards in baseball, boys and girls soccer, boys basketball, and ice hockey speaks to the character that is being instilled in our young athletes.
Since 1965, East has captured 47 state championships, including back-to-back-to back girls swimming titles in 2007, 2008 & 2009. The school's recipe of good coaching, committed participants, a competitive regular season schedule, and plenty of effort ultimately pays off with big wins in the final playoffs.
